Expertise & the Social Dimension of Science

This is a general nature of science module for upper level high school students. It begins with the complex social world that students encounter, rather than artificial simplicity, often regarded as "basic." The opening problem is about who to trust, and why. Students use this awareness to construct ideal expert systems. This is coupled with an analysis of sources of error. From these contexts, notions of scoial norms and formal methods are explored.
