LOUIS AGASSIZ Swiss
Building upon the ideas of others at first (Venetz, de Charpentier,
Sefstrom), you argue for a major “Ice Age” and embark upon a tour
of Scotland on which, you predict, you will find further evidence of
an Ice Age.
On GoogleEarth Tour pay particular attention to:
- Zermatt
- Lac des Corbeaux
- Glen Roy
Familiarize yourself with the following Episodes:
- Die Eiszeit Kommt
- Discours De Neuchatel
- Vosges Glaciation
- 1840 Visit to Britain
Read and summarize:
- “The discourse of Neuchatel”
- "Glaciers, and the evidence of their having once existed in Scotland, Ireland, and
England"
Be aware:
- Your reputation has earned you a hearing, but your theory of continental-scale
glaciation is perhaps too bold for many to accept so long as alternative
explanations exist in their eyes. You must emphasize the "total package" and not
let them pick at pieces to support their own views.
